We are looking for an experienced freelance social media specialist to help us share the stories of one of England’s most distinctive landscapes in a creative, engaging and authentic way.

Ideally you will live in or have strong links with the High Weald and share our passion for the landscape and its communities. We have a wealth of content and ideas, and are looking for external support to help us build our social media presence and increase our engagement across different platforms, in particular Facebook and Instagram.

Key tasks

Content creation

• Create engaging, stand-out content for socials using Canva and similar platforms, including graphics, reels and short-form video.
• Develop a programme of evergreen content, sharing our wealth of information, projects and stories about the High Weald.
• Help grow and nurture our online communities by engaging with partners’ posts and responding to comments and messages
  

Planning and advice

• Use Metricool or similar software to support us in planning, scheduling and analysis
• Help us stay up to date with social media trends, platform developments and best practice and use your knowledge to improve content, reach and engagement
• Advise on how to amplify posts and campaigns to increase reach and engagement
• Explore how to increase our profile on platforms including LinkedIn.
• Occasionally attend events, visits and projects within the High Weald to gather authentic content, photography and video.
  

Experience required

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience managing and growing social media channels, especially facebook and instagram
• Strong visual storytelling and content creation skills.
• Experience creating short-form video/reels for social media.
• Excellent written communication skills and a strong eye for tone and audience.
• Experience in using analytics to understand what works, and continually improve and refine our approach.
• An interest in landscapes, nature, farming, heritage, rural communities or conservation.
• A genuine passion for, or connection with, the High Weald landscape and its communities.
  

Practical information

• We anticipate this role requiring approximately 1-1.5 days a week on an ongoing freelance basis to 31 March (possibility of extension)
• Much of the work can be done remotely, although it would be helpful if you could be available to come into the office at Woodlands Enterprise Centre, Flimwell, on a Tuesday or Wednesday
• Budget depends on experience.
