Wild About Dark Skies Festival Roundup 2025: Light less, see more!

10 December 2025

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the 2025 Wild About Dark Skies Festival. Another successful Wild about Dark Skies Festival, with more than 600 people taking part in events all across the High Weald.

The 2025 Festival had more activities than ever before to celebrate the High Weald’s wonderful dark skies, and learn about the importance of reducing light pollution. Our highlights included:

  • Seeing the Andromeda Galaxy and Jupiter in Dallington
  • Poetry under the Beaver supermoon in Mayfield
  • Indoor planetarium and talks at Heathfield Environmental Fair
  • Nordic stories from Andreas Kornevall at Blackshed in Robertsbridge
  • Seeing shooting stars at Hastings Country Park
  • Captivating talks from Alice Heming, a children’s author of A Walk in the Dark in Etchingham
  • Magical evening at Kings John Nursery with owls, storytellers and a bat talk
  • nighttime wildlife and constellation walk at Crowhurst

“It was all brilliant. The talk on the universe was fascinating, and being shown the night sky!

“Lovely to have time to experience and appreciate the dark night skies with others.”

“I learned how much damage is caused to the wildlife by lights. Oh, and how to find the North Star!”

We can’t wait to see you next year when the festival returns. Keep an eye on the Wild about Dark Skies Festival webpage for what’s coming up.

Thanks to Wild about Burwash, Etchingham, Crowhurst, Ticehurst, Hurst Green, Wild Wadhurst, Blackshed Gallery, Dallington Parish Council, Hastings Country Park, Heathfield Environmental Group, Mayfield Climate Actions, Sussex Strollers, and Wilderness Woods.
