Proposed development at Worth Forest

Please see below the High Weald AONB Partnership’s statement on the proposed Center Parcs development:

“We are aware of the proposal for a Center Parcs in Worth Forest which is located in our national landscape – the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site is designated as Ancient Woodland and is adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It was once a medieval hunting forest celebrated by Elizabethan poet Michael Drayton in his epic topographical poem ‘Poly-Olbion’ – alongside St Leonard’s Forest, Ashdown Forest and Broadwater Warren

“Any planning application will need to be accompanied by a statement explaining the exceptional circumstances which justify this sensitive location, and how impacts will be mitigated.  The High Weald AONB Unit will provide advice to Mid Sussex District Council on the effect of the proposal on the AONB if an application is submitted.”
