High Weald Walking Festival – book from 9 August!

HWWF21 promo LRThis year’s High Weald Walking Festival is running from Saturday 11 – Sunday 19 September.

The Festival team has curated more than 30 FREE guided walks across the High Weald Area of Outstanding Beauty, led by knowledgeable guides from local Ramblers groups, the High Weald AONB team and other partners such as the RSPB and National Trust.

A booking system is in place this year to help manage numbers and keep everyone as safe as possible.
From Monday 9 August, you will be able to view the walking programme on the Festival website. Each walk has its own simple booking page, and you can join as many as you like. The process is quick, easy and – most importantly – free!

Here are a few highlights from the Festival programme to whet your appetite:

  • High Weald Dark Skies Walk: This will be a leisurely walk to enjoy the stars across the High Weald with a Dark Skies story.
  • WealdWay 40th Anniversary Walk: A circular walk using the WealdWay and Tunbridge Wells Circular, visiting the village of Spelhurst for lunch.
  • Full Steam Ahead at Horsted Keynes: Recapture the golden age of steam on this walk beside the Bluebell Railway and through fields and woods.

Join the High Weald Walking Festival mailing list for all the latest updates on bookings, extra ‘bonus’ walks and other news.

There will also be a range of self-guided walks available on the website, allowing you to explore this precious landscape at your own pace.

About the High Weald Walking Festival
The High Weald Walking Festival is a collaboration between several local branches of The Ramblers and the High Weald AONB Partnership. The event is run on a volunteer basis, with organisers and guides giving their time to help others experience the breathtaking scenery, wildlife and heritage of this precious landscape.

The High Weald is a walker’s paradise. Covering parts of Sussex, Kent and Surrey, its distinctive features include rolling hills studded with sandstone outcrops, dense woodland, small, irregular-shaped fields, scattered farmsteads and an expansive network of ancient routeways.

Whether you’re an avid rambler or just want to get out in the fresh air and appreciate your local area, the Walking Festival has something for everyone. Learn more at www.highwealdwalks.org.
