Planning Reform and National Landscapes: key messages and recommendations

The government is currently consulting on some proposed reforms to the planning system (the National Planning Policy Framework) which could have important implications for the UK’s National Landscapes, including the High Weald.

The government consultation runs until 10^th March 2026 and can be found here: National Planning Policy Framework: proposed reforms and other changes to the planning system – GOV.UK.

The National Landscapes Association has published some Key Messages and recommendations regarding the proposed reforms. These reflect concerns about the potential impacts of the proposed changes on National Landscapes, which we in the High Weald team share.
