Deer Management Coordinator
This role is pivotal to achieving sustainable deer management across the High Weald: to protect biodiversity, prevent agricultural damage, provide food and reduce deer-vehicle collisions.
The role involves:
- Expert Coordination: Leading the planning, implementation, and monitoring of a High Weald deer management plan for the area.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with land managers, local communities, and conservation organisations to develop and promote sustainable deer management practices.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Gathering and utilising scientific research and field data to inform and optimise deer management plans.
- Education and Outreach: Conducting workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns to educate people about the importance of sustainable deer management.
This contract is fixed term until 31 March 2027. (18 – 22.2 hours per week.)
Community Engagement Officer
This role is pivotal to connecting people of all ages and backgrounds with the High Weald’s landscape: to foster appreciation, enable access and participation, improve social cohesion and well-being and drive positive landscape change.
The role involves:
- Expert Coordination: taking a lead on the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community initiatives
- Stakeholder Engagement: fostering relationships with various groups in and around the area to address barriers to access and participation and enable inclusion
- Education and Outreach: Setting up workshops, training sessions, walks and talks and other events to connect people to the High Weald.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Gathering, utilising and sharing data to inform and optimise community engagement activity.
This contract is fixed term until 31 March 2025 with extension possible. (22-37.5 hours per week)

We work with everyone: government agencies and authorities; non-profit organisations; farmers, foresters and other land managers; local communities; and private sector entities to manage, conserve, and enhance the area and further understanding and enjoyment of it.
You will be part of a small, friendly, and dynamic team which uses its specialist knowledge of the area to make a positive impact. The team has a wide scope which allows for exploration of innovative and diverse approaches to developing best practices and driving effective action.
