High Weald

greenwood_granaryGreenwood Granary is a self-catering apartment set in the 2½ acre garden of Greenwoods Farm, hidden away at the end of a quiet country lane outside the small village of Punnetts Town, near Heathfield. This area of the High Weald is a perfect location for a holiday, with activities to suit all. Whether your interests are walking, birdwatching, paragliding, visiting places of interest or just relaxing by the sea, you will find an extensive choice of things to do.

Graham, who is as an arable farmer, is very knowledgeable and acutely aware of all of his responsibilities to safeguard the landscape for future generations. The day-to-day business of growing crops is supported more by green manure (the planting of "in-between" crops to plough back into the ground) and the application of recycled compost and farmyard or horse manure than by traditional fertilizers. At the height of the summer, farming takes priority but Graham is always pleased to explain and discuss the workings of this family farm with visitors when time allows. He is very proud of Greenwood Granary as he feels that through careful efforts, the landscape is highlighted and celebrated through what they do there.

A walk or bicycle ride from The Granary is rewarded not only with a beautiful forest, ancient woodland and landscape but also some lovely old pubs serving local ales and homemade food. A list of these together with their telephone numbers is provided in the Welcome Pack provided for all guests. Local produce is used as much as possible. Sarah rarely visits a supermarket, preferring instead to use the greengrocer and butcher in Heathfield, the local farm shops and the favourite at the time of writing, Park Farm Shop, nursery and cafe near Battle.· Greenwood Granary is also in a good position for visiting a number of National Trust houses and gardens and other attractions such as the Herstmonceux Science Centre and Batemans at Burwash.
